Camp NaNoWriMo, July, Day Eleven: Excerpt

My eyes flutter back open and I whimper as I look forward to where the voice came from.
There's the shadow of a child in the distance, one I didn't notice earlier. It trembles and I huff quietly, barely choking out through my parched throat, "I... will..."
The shadow flinches, then I hear its footsteps run to me and see her face as she squats in front of me, putting her hand to my forehead, "Are... you... okay..?"
I blink slowly, "No... Go away... I'd like to die alone... That's what I deserve."
She scowls and takes my sword from my hand, setting it off to the side and slowly putting her arms under me, pushing me up against the wall so I'm sitting. She must be about fifteen, her green eyes shimmering in the dimed light, "Did you come to rescue me?" she whispers.
I shake my head slowly, "No... Go away... I'd like to di-"
"You aren't going to die! Come on, we'll get out of here together! If you promise to help me I can give you some food and water!" she offers.
I purse my lips, then see the canteen of water at her side, and the way it drops from her belt, it must be full. My stomach grumbles and I slowly nod, "K-kay."
She smiles and unlatches the canteen, opening it and holding it to my lips.
I'm barely able to lift my arms and tilt the canteen myself, gulping down the water like a fool.
While I drink she takes off her backpack, pulling out several rolls.
Taking the rolls from her and starting to eat them I smile, sitting up straighter.
This seems to make her happy as she leans against the opposite wall, "So, you're infected too, huh?"
