Camp NaNoWriMo, July, Day One: ExcerptMy fingers jump to the plain silver chain around my neck and I fiddle with it quietly, wishing that Rayon was by my side. If he was he would probably make some snide remark about Shimien's emotions, or lack there of. I smile barely, closing my eyes as I tilt my head back. I used to yearn for my mother to be by my side, when I was little and didn't understand that she would never come home. But now that I do understand that, I just yearn for Rayon. He is the one who gave me my silver chain. He says that he found it while on a trip with his teacher. He is a painter, and he's wonderful at it. It's possible that his job title will change when he turns thirty, but it's not for certain. Most people don't get their first job title till they turn thirty, but a select few will get to be a painter or writer, and they always get their job titles at fifteen, though it is subject to change unless they show exceptional skill. I am sure that Rayon will be a painter his whole life. I've never seen him
Your Warmth I shiver in the cold, pulling down my rolled up sleeves as I draw in shaky breaths. Shield doesn't even bother to notice, sitting calmly, staring straight ahead. I purse my lips with annoyance and slowly scoot to his side where he sits on the other side of the porch swing. He glances down at me and scowls, "What are you doing?" I twitch and look away, glancing back after a while to see that he's gone back to staring straight ahead. Holding my breath I move closer to him, pressing up against his arm. He's warm and comfortable and I rest my head against his shoulder, ignoring his obvious flinch and grunt of disapproval. After a few minuets I feel my mind starting to drift off, and right before I move into my dreams I feel his arm wrap around me, and a bare smile lifts my lips silently while my eyes close and the dreams take me.
